Pharmacy’s regulator for the UK, the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), is seeking the public’s opinion on proposed new professional standards for pharmacy professionals.
The GPhC has launched a major consultation asking for feedback on the nine core standards in the graphic above. Regardless of the sector they work in, all pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, trainees and students will have to meet these standards, to ensure that patients and the public receive safe and effective care and to uphold public trust and confidence in pharmacy. The new standards will replace the current Standards of conduct, ethics and performance
Feedback is sought from a variety of audiences including pharmacy and health professionals, students and educators, and patients and the public on the proposed new standards. Given the importance of the standards, they want to ensure that they hear as many views as possible on whether they have developed the right standards to promote professionalism and person-centred care in pharmacy.
The consultation is open until 27 June 2016.
